THE PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS OF TREATED-FERRONICKEL SLAG PRODUCED BY ALKALI FUSION AND CARBOTHERMIC PROCESS

چکیده

The utilization of slag as a secondary resource is usually processed by reduction process with coal reducing agents or leaching process. However, this study will use palm kernel shell an alternative agent to substitute coal. Palm was chosen because their availability in Indonesia. purpose determine the effect and its concentration (wt.%) ferronickel initial sample which had been proceed alkali fusion adding 20 wt.% sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) additive then roasted. roasted product mixed reductant ratio (sample : reductant), are 15:85, 20:80, 25:75 weight percent. Samples that have compacted using compacting machine. Then carried out tube furnace at temperature 1100°C for 60 minutes heating rate 10°C/minute. shells were analyzed ultimate proximate analysis, while reduced characterized SEM-EDS XRD further analysis. Based on results characterization, it found produces products form iron metal, magnetite, hematite, silicate. optimum 15 reductant.
